My story: Emy is a 2 year old, 7 pound Chihuahua who spent her life in the front yard of a home in the middle of Phoenix.
She was constantly traded off between a tiny kennel and being tied to a post with a line that was almost always tangled, leaving her with only inches to move around. She deserved so much more than a life of confinement and neglect.
Now Emy is living the inside life alongside her pack of small and medium sized dogs. She does great with other dogs and, once she warms up to you, she will be your very best little jumping bean.
Emy is fully vetted, healthy, and ready to go. After spending her life with barely any room to move, she is ready for a family who will give her all the love, comfort, and freedom she deserves.

My story: In the middle of an Arizona summer, with temperatures hitting 115°, Bennett was being passed between a group of unhoused people trying to keep this big puppy alive.
They told us what Bennett had been through before he ended up with them. They knew the streets were no place for him, and despite having very little themselves, they wanted something better for this dog.
So we took him in.
Our community helped us raise the funds to get Bennett into a board-and-train program with our friends at Inertia Canine, and this boy has absolutely BLOSSOMED.
Bennett is goofy, affectionate, great with people, and great with dogs big AND small. He’s learning how to be a polite inside dog, how to play, swim, and even how to enjoy full off-leash freedom.
At around 65–70 lbs, Bennett is going to be the ULTIMATE adventure dog. Hiking, road trips, exploring, lake days, weekends away… this is the dog you bring along for all of it.
He is neutered, vaccinated, medically cleared, and ready for his person.
Our biggest goal is to find Bennett’s adopter while he is still with his trainer, so his new family can work directly with them and have his follow-up lessons transitioned straight into his new home come the beginning of October!

My story: Georgia was picked up after being found running in and out of a high-traffic street filthy with matted hair😩
Now, Georgia is about 3 years old and living the good life safe, happy, and ready for her forever home!
She is incredibly friendly and playful, always ready for cuddles, playtime, and making new friends.
Georgia would LOVE another small companion to wrestle and play with.
She is healthy, spayed, and fully vetted.

My story: Little Teddy was surrendered to us after living in the yard of an animal hoarder. His little eye was punctured and necrotic. He was only 12 weeks old.
We took him straight to the ER, where they removed his eye; it couldn’t be saved. While under anesthesia, staff watched as his blood pressure and heart rate dropped in relief as soon as the eye was removed
The doctor told us that she had never seen a puppy in that much pain.
Cut to today, Teddy is about a year old, 65lbs and has forgotten all about his past!
He is wonderful! He’s good with people, dogs, and cats. It takes him a second to warm up to new people. As we’ve been doing more and more socializing, this process is getting quicker and quicker!
Teddy is our go to cat testing dog. When we have a new cat or kitten in the rescue, we use him to help them get used to being around dogs. That should tell you all you need to know about his temperament! He’s a sweet heart
He is phenomenal on leash and has “bring everywhere” status. He loves hiking and is the best ball player around!
Teddy would love to go to someone active that is interested in having an adventure buddy. While he doesn’t require 24/7 stimulation, he really enjoys trips to the store and getting out and about. He’s also a dog that will be happy to grab a bone and take it to his bed or your couch!

Wyatt
My story: Wyatt is a 7 year old, 60 pound former street dog who spent nearly his entire life surviving on his own.
Before coming to us, Wyatt roamed our old Phoenix neighborhood day and night searching for food. His “owner” called him Monster, but never allowed him inside. He lived in feral mode, skin and bones, navigating traffic, dodging cars, and doing whatever he could to survive on the streets.
We watched Wyatt for a long time before we were finally able to get him off the streets and give him the chance he deserved. Learning how to be an inside dog was a big adjustment, but today Wyatt is living the air conditioned life of luxury. Now he is ready for a family of his own.
Wyatt is great on leash, loves going for walks, and warms up to new people when given the time and opportunity to get to know them. He does well with neutral, non conflict seeking dogs, but after spending so much of his life fending for himself, he would be perfectly happy being your one and only.

My story: Miley is a 4 year old, 55 pound professional shadow, part time comedian, and aspiring cheetah who is ready to find her forever family!
Miley came to us from a broken down farm in Prescott alongside her mother. When she arrived, she had a mass on the underside of her jaw that needed to be removed. Our dental specialist successfully removed the mass, along with a small portion of her jaw and a couple of teeth. She made a wonderful recovery and is completely healthy today. The only evidence left behind is that her tongue sometimes adorably sticks out of the side of her mouth!
Personality wise, Miley is hilarious, affectionate, and wants nothing more than to be wherever her people are. She loves dogs, loves people, and something we do not get to confidently say about every rescue dog, Miley has lived with kids and does great with them! Her previous foster home had several children, and she fit right in.
And do not let that goofy tongue fool you. Miley would very much like her future family to know that she is as fast as a cheetah and is happy to prove it whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Miley is spayed, fully vetted, vaccinated, and Valley Fever tested. She is healthy, happy, ridiculously lovable, and ready to become someone’s new best friend and permanent shadow.

My story: Aunt Lana is one of two dogs that were surrendered to our organization when their owner struck hard times.
She does great with dogs, cats and people. Lady Lana is HEAVILY TOY MOTIVATED!
She’s currently learning how to play tug, and how to turn “off”. If A GOOD TIME is what you’re looking for, Lady Lana is here for it! Lana is 7 years young but acts about 2. She does great on a leash and is unbothered by other dogs or people.

My story: His intestines were hanging out when we found him! Little Gene was found as a street dog in Phoenix. When we picked him up we noticed that he was definitely an older dog, but we didn't notice the life threatening condition he was in…
Gene had a horrific perianal hernia. His bladder, colon, and lower intestines were pushed through his pelvic floor muscles. After the intensive surgery, he was a brand new dog!! Despite being a senior, he can still move quick when he wants to, or if theres a snack involved!
Now, Gene is looking for his forever home!! He equally loves walks and hanging out on the couch with his family.
His favorite time of day is bed time. He loves cuddling up and watching tv after bopping around the house all day. He's great with other dogs and people. Though he would not be a fit for a family with cats.
Gene is fully vetted, got a dental in our care, and is ready to go!

My story: Jerry was found at 7 months old, dragging his body thru a field in Texas where he had been dumped. X rays showed a small bullet lodged in his spine. A good Sam took him in, and for the next week, figured out how to get him to a “special needs rescue” here in Arizona.
Unfortunately, the special needs rescue, was a fraud. She hoarded Jerry and 54 other dogs in a tiny house, leaving them locked in kennels with no meds, no water, no wheel chairs…
The Chandler55 case was horrific. When the dogs were finally released back to their original rescues, Jerry found himself needing a lifeline, and we couldn’t say yes fast enough!
Jerry has been with us for 2 years, learning all the ins and outs of what the good life looks and feels like! As the founder of the organization I made it my personal mission to give Jerry a 2 year window with us before we made him available for adoption, as I’ve been his personal physical therapist and I wanted to see if we could get him walking again.
Jerry has gotten stronger since he’s been with us, and his back legs will take steps, and he can do a small amount of what’s called “spinal walking” - however he will always need his wheel chair for full mobility.
If you could see the smile on his face when he does spin outs on our property, you wouldn’t worry about if he ever walked again. He’s so damn happy every moment of every day!
Jerry can poop on his own, but needs his bladder expressed 3-4 times a day. When we express his bladder, we also take advantage of “pooping him” so he stays on schedule and it reduces the chance of any poop accidents in the house. This is a very simple technique that takes about 1 minute, and makes everyone’s life so much better!
Jerry is great with other dogs, but slow to warm up to people. He reads energy very closely, and isn’t an immediate fan of everyone. But if he loves you, you’re his favorite for life- everyone else, he’ll get there.
He’s off leash trained and LOVES to go on adventure hikes!!! He’s got a good amount of prey drive and would do best in a home with no cats.
Jerry is great with other dogs, cautious with new people, and loyal for life once he trusts you. H! Off-leash trained, adventure-ready, and best in a cat-free home.
Before applying, things to consider:
Can you express his bladder 4x a day?
Learn and use the quick poop technique?
Get him in/out of his wheelchair for outdoor time?
Wrap his feet every few days to prevent drag wounds?
Add his 3 liquid supplements to his food daily for UTI prevention?

Scarlett
My story: 12 year old Scarlett was going to be euthanized because her owners girlfriend said she reminded her of his ex wife…
Scarlett is the most adoptable little old lady EVER!!! Now at 13 and about 65lbs, she is looking for someplace to retire. She is currently living with our rescue, but due to the amount of dogs we have, she does not get the time to lounge in the couch like she deserves.
She is everyone's best friend. This girl has never met a stranger! She approaches everyone like she’s known them her entire life. She does great with male dogs on the larger side, 40+lbs!
All she wants to do is lounge around, have a snack, and toss a stuffy around, have another snack, and nap again!

Cowboy
My story: Cowboy spent the first six years of his life chained beneath an RV on a dilapidated property in Mississippi, surrounded by more than 90 other dogs.
When a large scale rescue operation was organized to get every dog off the property, we stepped in to help. One by one, the dogs found rescues willing to take them. All except Cowboy.
Cowboy had been labeled “human aggressive,” and no one had an outlet for him.
So we rented a van, picked him up in Mississippi, and drove him all the way back to Phoenix.
It didn’t take long for us to realize that Cowboy wasn’t human aggressive at all. He was simply a dog who had spent nearly his entire life chained under an RV. He was undersocialized, unsure of people, and had never been given the opportunity to learn that the world could be safe.
Today, at around 8 years old, Cowboy is the life of the party.
Once he warms up, his favorite thing to do is stare straight into your eyes and wait for the perfect opportunity to sneak a little nibble on your chin. He’s goofy, affectionate, full of personality, and finally getting to experience the life he should have had all along.
Cowboy does well with neutral female dogs and warms up to new people when given the chance.

Dozer
My story: Dozer is a 7 year old, 60 pound, toothless lap dog who has been dreaming of one thing: a couch to call his own.
His perfect day is pretty simple. Lay on the couch with his people, grab his favorite toy, go for a car ride, come home, grab another toy, and head right back to the couch. You will almost never catch this guy without a toy in his mouth, and despite being 60 pounds, Dozer is completely convinced he belongs in your lap.
We are looking for a forever foster for Dozer. That means he gets to live with you and be loved like he is your own dog, while Handover Rover continues to financially cover his food, medical care, and other needs for the rest of his life.
Dozer qualifies for forever foster status because he has Wobbler syndrome, a neurological condition caused by compression of the spinal cord in the neck that can affect a dog’s coordination and mobility.
For Dozer, this primarily looks like some wobbliness and occasional “knuckling,” where he may stand on the top of his foot rather than his paw. His neck also remains fixed following a surgery he had many years ago, so his overall mobility is somewhat limited. None of this stops him from enjoying his life. He still gets around great, is not currently in pain, and is more than happy living life at his own pace.
Dozer does great with larger dogs but needs a home without cats.
His forever foster will simply need to keep us in the loop about his Wobbler syndrome and let us know if they notice any changes or progression. That way, we can work with his veterinary team and adjust his care or treatment as needed. Handover Rover will remain financially responsible for his needs.
Give him a couch, a pile of toys, a spot in the car, and people to love, and this toothless wonder will be living his dream.
